“A place we’d all like to have nearby to enjoy amazing food, a good pint and a relaxing atmosphere”. This was the straightforward concept behind the reinvention of the Flitch of Bacon as a restaurant by Daniel Clifford. Daniel, a local resident and known more widely for his 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Midsummer House, wanted a place that was special, but not just for special occasions, to bring his own family and share with Little Dunmow; somewhere family friendly, relaxing and welcoming.

A strong sense of the importance such a historic place has in the fabric of the area has ensured the Flitch has seen a sympathetic restoration. Daniel saw the Flitch of Bacon as an opportunity to create something exceptional for the locality.
